History

South Louisville Community Ministries (SLCM) has a long history of service to the south end of Louisville. SLCM was founded in 1976 by the churches in south Louisville to be your ministry to those in need, and currently has over 50 supporting churches encompassing 13 denominations. SLCM began in a small church office and has since expanded to include three different buildings and programs that range from Youth Services to Adult Day Center to Emergency Assistance to Meals On Wheels.

Although staff and directors have come and gone throughout SLCM’s thirty years of service to the community, the mission remains the same: to be an interfaith association of churches, established to coordinate the efforts of the various segments of the community in order to enhance the religious, educational, social, health, economic, and community development of children, youth, and adults and thus improve their quality of life.

As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

John 13:34
